I want to learn programming for the web but I don’t know where I should start? - 02/14/2009 Where do I start in the programming world. I want to be a web designer and I have very little experience with the server side aspect of web development. I have designed many static web pages but now I am being required to do much more. People want my to be able to search things in their site and make shopping carts and more. What is the best route to take for studying server side web development. |

Response - 02/14/2009 I would start at the W3Schools website and take all of their tutorials. These tutorials are great and will get you up to speed with the code aspect of web development. Also, many Community Colleges offer classes in Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and other web development tools. I would highly recommend taking those classes because they are usually affordable and skill boosting. Plus it is good to have a teacher that can point you in a direction that you would not necessarily be able to find on your own. Another thing you can do is look up Photoshop, Illustrator, and programming tutorials and try to do as many of those as you can. There is a ton of good information on the web. It is always good to surround yourself with people with the same goals that you have. You can pick their brains and they can challenge you in the field. These are the best starting points for you to get on the road to being a good at web programming. |
