Is Microsoft 7 worth it?   -   02/20/2009

Does anyone think Microsoft 7 is going to be better than Vista or are they the same thing in different clothes. I am still using Windows XP and am happy with it. =D Some people are telling me that XP isn’t a good operating system anymore because of limitations on hardware. Is this true or is Microsoft trying to be sneaky?

Vista and Microsoft 7 are very similar Operating systems from what I understand. It is hard to evaluate the system because it has only been BETA released; however, there are good and bad things about it. Windows 7 system is "supposed" to support more hardware capabilities. It is true that XP and Vista 32 bit versions in fact do have hardware limitations. For Example XP and Vista 32bit have a memory limitations at 3.5 gigs. Plus, if you are a gamer with SLI dual video cards, there are limitations with that also. From what I understand, Windows 7 is supposed to be less memory intensive than its predecessor Vista and is supposed to perform faster. But of course that’s the sales pitch Microsoft has been pitching since Windows 98. At least that’s what their little rotating ad says when your installing the OS.

Personally, I use Windows XP because I went on a Anti-Microsoft fit and boycotted their Vista system (As many people did). That’s because Microsoft told me I needed to purchase another licence key for my OS, even though I purchased XP already. Because, due to hardware failure, I had to buy a new MotherBoard and Microsoft said that made my OS invalid. They suspiciously wanted to charge me 150 dollars for a key, even though I paid 80 dollars for my original OS. I guess they thought I was a sucker.

Due to my memory needs I probably will go towards Linux or maybe Vista 64bit, but I am not sure about Windows 7. We will see if Windows 7 is worth it or not when the consumers speak out. It is too early to tell. I don’t see Microsoft changing their ways so don’t be surprised if they continue to be unethical. If Microsoft is smart, they would reduce their demand for money.
